Cybersecurity risks will always be present no matter where you are in the world. I think that North America is definitely a bigger risk for cybersecurity attacks because we are the most militaristically advanced nation, and other countries want to develop our technology and weapons for the benefit of theirs. Over half of digital security organizations are situated in the United States. I think it makes sense that countries with high defense systems and more valuable information to have higher defensive measures and cybersecurity. I believe it also makes sense for countries that we have conflict with to have strong cybersecurity measures at hand, such as China. In North America, the 5 biggest cybersecurity threats to people include social engineering, which is what we call malicious activities through human interactions, ransomware, DDoses, third party software, and cloud computing vulnerabilities. Social engineering is what we call malicious activities through human interactions. Ransomware is malware that employs encryption to hold a victim’s information at ransom. A Ddos attack attempts to exceed a website’s capacity to handle multiple requests which can make the website go down. Third party software is a computer program that is an operation system that is not developed by that company. Finally, cloud computing vulnerability is  the unauthorized access through improper access controls. China, on the other hand, has tightened control over information on the internet and computer security steadily and securely throughout the past 20 years. China requires banks and other high-risk places to cybersecurity to be sensitive and require only Chinese-made security products. On the flip side to China having good cybersecurity measures, they also pose a cyber threat to the United States. China has been proven to conduct online spying, commit intellectual property theft and spread disinformation campaigns against the US and its allies. Again, the cyber world will never be perfect but it is vital to protect it as best as we can.
