As we, not only in the United States, but in the world, move towards a more digital path in business, is it imperative that businesses develop and implement cybersecurity training programs and setups. Having these programs within their businesses allows for so many wonderful things to be produced, but there are also some drawbacks along with it. Personally, I believe that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks dramatically to the point where it seems like there are no drawbacks. Anyways, a few benefits of having cybersecurity programs in the business world is that it helps companies to defend their information and data from hackers. A company’s most valuable item is their information, so without it, they are essentially useless. Allowing a company’s information to be stolen also shows customers that the company they were associated with is not reliable or safe. Additionally, it shows a company’s competition that they are also not capable of protecting information. Both reasons are clear examples as to why having a cybersecurity program is essential for a business to be successful. Another benefit to having a cybersecurity program is that it prevents human error. A human could accidentally stay logged into a network or accidentally lock themselves out, while a cybersecurity program could prevent that. However, there are a few costs and drawbacks to installing cybersecurity programs. First, the installation process can be expensive. Having the program installed as well as the labor it takes for the installation would be costly. Additionally, it would be timely. The business would have to conduct research to figure out what kind of cybersecurity program would fit best for their business. Another cost is the upkeeping and preservation of the program. When new updates and versions of the program become available, it would take more time to install. One other drawback is that it would take time to train the employees on how to use the program. All in all, however, I think that keeping the information safe is the highest priority, and all measures should be taken to ensure that nothing can happen to it.
