To begin with, I think there are two elements to offenders and victims when it comes to cyber technology. The two elements whether or not there is or is not a relationship between the offender and victim. Beginning with the offender alone, this person can use cyber technology to their advantage. He or she can use technology to disguise themself making it harder for law enforcement to track them down. I think a good example of this would be in The Batman<\/em>. In this movie, the antagonist streams online and communicates with others that have the same motive as him, and he uses the stream to threaten people and to hide himself from the police. On the other hand, technology can end up backfiring against an offender. I think the most obvious example of this would be an adult inappropriately texting a minor. Obviously the text messages are there and the technology does not lie, resulting in the offender being hurt by technology. Victims also have a relationship with cyber technology that can be harmful or helpful. It can be harmful to victims because those in a relationship with an offender are on the negative end of the stick. For example, a victim could take inappropriate pictures and send it to the offender, and later on the pictures were exposed. This clearly shows how technology can negatively affect a victim. Finally, technology can help a victim of cybercrime by helping catch criminals. One example is surveillance cameras. If somebody steals from a grocery store and nobody saw a look at the person, the cameras probably did. Additionally, we can use graphic picturing to estimate what a criminal looks like and use that image to help find a criminal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Cyber technology impacts both offenders and victims in positive and negative ways.
