The internet can be a very dangerous place and having the right training\/tools can help you or your business avoid major cybercrimes like phishing, scams, identity theft, fraud, and hacking. Pursuing a career in Cyber security will make myself more competitive for the prosperous job market in which many individuals are beginning to gravitate towards, seeing that modern times coincide with technology. With 4 years of military experience, I have received multiple trainings on cyber security awareness that have proven to be beneficial in the civilian world. Using these everyday skills along with new studies from this course will guide the path to a successful cyber career in a revolutionary time in history for new software’s and databases. I recently studied Criminal Justice at North Carolina A&T and Virgnia State University, in which the teachings from my previous institutions somewhat go hand in hand with cyber security. Another main reason for pursuing a cyber degree from ODU is my goal to eventually apply for a career within Homeland Security (HS). My active-duty service was primarily dedicated to making sure I had my foot in the door with Homeland Security, now with the help of my instructors I will be able to use current knowledge partnered with previous experience in my best efforts to not only make the best of my future but to actually make a difference in the cyber world with the information that I’ve learned and will one day relay. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
