Assignment 5 Takeaway
For this assignment, we had to do 5 random acts of kindness. Due to Covid-19, we were not able to do this with strangers as originally requested, but social media and phones made it possible to do nice things for friends and family. This actually tied in nicely with an assignment I recently completed for my Theories of Personality class where we had to do a gratitude journal. Doing something nice for others allowed me to be grateful that I was even able to have the ability to help out the way I did and the gratitude journal allowed me to be able to see how much I do have despite everything that is going on in the world right now.
I chose the below image because it was designed for children and I love how it highlights many different ways we can be kind to individuals in a fun way.

Assignment 4 Takeaway
For this assignment, we had to take the Styles of Love Questionnaire and discuss our results. I wasn’t terribly surprised with my results and agreed with most of them. I would say that it relates to a Psychology of Sex class I took a couple semesters ago. We didn’t discuss our love styles but we did talk about different relationship types that I think it relevant to this questionnaire.
I chose this image because I felt it was relevant, especially since the topic was love styles.

Assignment 3 Takeaway
For this assignment, we had to watch a video of comedian Michael Richard’s tirade against hecklers during a show. The discussion was if his comments were inherently racist or if he was just saying things to upset the heckler. I indicated that I felt his comments were absolutely racist. His comments came from somewhere and there are many ways to hurt someone without resorting to racist remarks. I wouldn’t say this assignment taught me anything personally because I was providing my own opinion, but it did make me think more about an individual’s motive for the things they say.
I chose the below image because I think that in this time with phones and videos and social media ruling over society, it’s becoming more and more obvious that individual’s still have racist ideologies and are not afraid to voice that. It’s important to remember that racism is always wrong.

Assignment 2 Takeaway
For this assignment, we had to analyze photos of ourselves and discuss if they were accurate representations of who we are. Personally, I felt that my photos were an accurate representation. I would say that I learned a lot about myself personally. I was able to really think about why I chose the photos I did, why I maybe posed or smiled or didn’t smile, and even thought of why I even took the photo in the first place. I was able to think about myself in a way I haven’t before and really pin point the person I am. I can’t say I can relate this to another class but this definitely was relevant to myself personally and how I see myself as a person.
I chose the below photo because all the photos I described in my assignment were selfies. I thought this would be a cute and funny way to represent my constant need to take a selfie instead of just letting someone else take the picture.
