Many jobs and career fields relate to cybersecurity and rely on its technology. The four other major at ODU that probably relate the most to cyber security are: computer science, criminal justice, cyber crime, and management. On the ODU academics website is describes computer science as preparing students for professions such as software development, network and database administration, and even jobs in cyber security. Computer science, while I feel is more on the creation side of things, will need to know a lot about security protocols and programs, how to keep their work secure, and possibly even be in cyber security jobs themselves. Criminal justice is another major that probably uses cyber security aspects a lot. While they are mainly learning the laws, how to enforce them, and things like that, they will also need to know at least a little bit about how to keep records and information private and declassified. Criminal justice also coincides with cyber security with a lot of students making on their major and the other their minor, I know a couple people who are doing both and want to work for the FBI doing cyber security. The cyber crime major is very similar to the cyber security major, but it focuses more on training students for cyber security careers in law enforcement. They take many different courses, but will need to be able to use cyber security technology in order to protect law enforcement systems, be able to detect if a cyber crime has happened, and use cyber security technology in order to stop the threat and secure the system. Management, while not really dealing with cyber security aspects in college, will definitely need to know at least basic cyber security techniques. While most companies have teams that secure their systems, if you are the CEO or a high up position you will need to know the systems in order to keep some of your information secure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
