I am interested in cybersecurity because in today’s world cyber technology is increasing drastically and changing over time and we have to keep up with the changes. A Lot of people nowadays are getting hacked by people who have had experience with cybersecurity and using it to their advantage. For example, Instagram is a big social platform that is being hacked daily.  For my major, criminal justice, cybersecurity technology is very important. They have to be ahead of all of the new technology coming out and learn to be able to prevent hackers from getting very classified information. They have to be able to fight for protection against critical systems and information from digital hackers. Hackers can hack almost anything now. They have learned to adapt to the new technology coming out, which is why we need to be one step ahead. I’m not the best with computers and computer science so I’m hoping this class will allow me to understand cybersecurity technology better.  I am considering minoring in cybersecurity, to hopefully do something in the FBI. I hope this class will allow me to understand what cybersecurity is, how it’s changing and how it affects society every day.

 There are so many job options available with a cybersecurity degree such as government positions as well as health care positions. After doing some research on potential jobs that I can get with cybersecurity technology what sparked my eye was a cybercrime analysis/ investigator. It is very similar to what I want to do as a career choice and still allows me to work in the FBI if I wanted to. Overall, I am interested in cybersecurity technology not only for the knowledge and experience I will hopefully take away from this class, but to also help me narrow down a potential career choice to see if I want to work in a field with cybersecurity.
