This great write-up of teaching Amy Earhart and Maura Ives are engaged in at Texas A &amp; M should be of interest:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.historians.org\/2018\/01\/race-print-and-digital-humanities-pedagogical-approaches\/\">http:\/\/blog.historians.org\/2018\/01\/race-print-and-digital-humanities-pedagogical-approaches\/\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a highlight: &#8220;Our class was structured to allow for both theoretical discussions regarding scholarly texts as well as hands on activities to engage students with concepts that arise when \u201cdoing\u201d digital humanities. Topics included \u201cRace and Publishing Blackness\u201d; \u201cHow to Make, Evaluate, and Use a Bibliography\u201d; \u201cBibliography as Recovery\u201d; \u201cTextual Problems: Non Traditional Texts\u201d; \u201cForms: Words, Music, and Images\u201d; \u201cMultiple Editions\/Versions\u201d; and \u201cAnnotations and Paratexts.\u201d Each topic included a case study that allowed students to test their theoretical knowledge. For example, when we discussed multiple editions and versioning, students used the Juxta tool to compare versions of Martin Delany\u2019s\u00a0<em>Blake<\/em>. When we examined \u201cForms: Words and Music,\u201d students read James Weldon Johnson\u2019s\u00a0<em>God\u2019s Trombone<\/em>\u00a0and examined multiple musical scores of his included works.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Periodically I&#8217;ll post relevant news and cfps to our course site.
