Hey everyone!<\/p>\n

My name is Andrew Proctor. I am a cybersecurity major, and this is my senior year here at Old Dominion University.\u00a0 I was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, but have lived in both Virginia and Maryland (the \u201cDMV\u201d) at various times in my life.\u00a0 Although I am currently a Virginian resident now, Maryland will always be my home.\u00a0 My personal belief is that every moment in life is a lesson, whether good or bad and molds you into the person that you are truly meant to be. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I decided to attend Old Dominion because at this point in my life, I felt and still feel completely confident to take on the challenge of getting my degree in cybersecurity, something I have been putting off for quite some time.\u00a0 You could partially blame the postponement due to the pandemic and the effects it had on us all.\u00a0 I have taken a few courses in community college prior to the outbreak as well as a few online classes during the pandemic but had never fully committed myself to the major.\u00a0 I decided to work instead, taking a job as a teacher’s assistant in an after-school program, and working as a counselor for camps.\u00a0 I deeply value the time I spent in that environment, learning many valuable lessons and meeting some amazing people along the way.\u00a0 After a while, however, I realized that I was ready to set off and take the next step in starting my career by enrolling here in the Fall of 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

In my free time, I enjoy being active.\u00a0 I love the game of Basketball, it\u2019s a huge passion for me.\u00a0 I even ran a basketball camp for kids this past year, coaching them in ball-handling and shooting.\u00a0 I enjoy playing the game as well as watching as many NBA games as I can.\u00a0 Some of my favorite players are LeBron James, Luka Doncic, Ja Morant, and Kyrie Irving.\u00a0 I enjoy reading and constantly educating myself on various subjects and philosophies.\u00a0 I also enjoy outdoor activities and have recently taken up the hobby of kayaking.<\/span>\u00a0 In the future, I hope to continue to learn new things ways to become the best that I can be in my career field.<\/span><\/p>\n
