My name is Thomas Mayfield and I recently started the next chapter of my life by here at ODU. I separated from active duty earlier this year where I served in the Navy for 9 years, and was rated as a Submarine Sonar Technician (STS) Petty Officer 2nd Class (E-5). Prior to my separation I was stationed at the US Navy Submarine Torpedo Facility in Yorktown, Virginia. And prior to receiving orders there, I served aboard the USS Nevada SSBN 733 (nuclear ballistic missile submarine). I am currently perusing my military career in the Naval Reserves now that I am no longer Active Duty.<\/p>\n
Now that I’m a civilian yet again, I decided to pursue my degree in Cyber Security. It’s a rapidly growing field and one that I’ve been interested in for some time. I haven’t decided what it is exactly I want to specialize within the field of cyber security, hopefully as I learn more about this field of study I’ll decide what avenue I want to go down.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
