Fiber Optic Network Engineering
The following artifacts are technical skills I’ve learned over the course of my Fiber Optic career. Each artifact represents something I built and spliced personally. During my the course of my time in fiber I’ve developed a passion for building networks and troubleshooting when they go down. This job is what inspired me to return to finish my degree. These are the systems the modern world runs on.

- This is a Multible Dwelling Unit (MDU), a fiber optic cable runs through the box. I split open the cable using a ring cut technique and accesses the individual fibers within the colored tubes. I then spliced the active fibers to run through the splitters (grown in silver) leading to ports. each port on the right hand side represents a single household.

- This is the inside of a new network distribution case. Basically, this is where larger “backbone” fiber cables join together in order to join pathways from seperate cables, thus interlinking their networks. I also installed a splitter to send a single input down multible pathways. The splitter attunes the frequencies by splitting the input signal into seperate signals, thus changing their individual frequencies.

- This is a full network linkage for an entire large apartment building I designed and built. Several backbone fiber cables met inside this network room to all be spliced together in hundreds of seperate ways to form the entire network. The network distribution is housed in the large black cans, the white box is an Optical Line Machine which generates the laser to send down the fiber lines, along with attuning to the correct frequency.
Creativity
In my own life experience I have found that much of my professional capability comes from my ability to think outside the box to develop new solutions when others have failed. Creativity comes in many forms but learning to channel those intangibles into a robust, professional work mindset is something I have developed over the course of both my education, then career. Creativity has proved vital to my growth.
- This is my own analysis and approach to the change of policies regarding national defense infastructure the last decades have seen.
- Rather than an analysis on policy, this is my own researched take on the current state of cyberdefense and the United State’s operational abilities. With my career in fiber optics this is the topic which drove my passion to return to education.
- This is a reflective writing assignment where I go over the neccesary ethics in morally grey areas within cyber conflicts.
Research
These artifacts will cover my research skills which I had developed and honed during my college education. Good research is at the core of all academia and learning to what information to parse and collect is crucial. Each artifact in an example of how I incorporated research techniques into my writing.

- A detailed, researched post breaking down the systematic nature of cults, specifically the Dark Enlightenment.
- Below is my Bio-Cybersecurity Capstone project in which my group and I researched a healthcare company and developed a specific cybersecurity analysis for them. The sections which are my contributions are labeled with my name beside them.
- This is my research paper going into how to prevent medical device hijacking from hackers.
