Over the past eleven weeks of university 150, I have learned a lot about my writing good and bad, and I will continue to learn more about what I can do to make it better than before. I realized that I have a lot of trouble knowing where and where not to put a comma in a sentence, and having strong examples that pertain to my topic sentence but my strengths include how to put a sentence together, and the correct use of a verb.

At the beginning of the year, I only wrote how I was used to writing or how a teacher in the past would teach me in order to get a passing grade; I never focused on how to correctly use a comma or that there were different ways to connect a sentence without it being wrong. Throughout the weeks though I have taken the problems that I was accustomed to making and worked harder on trying to fix them. I have done better with fixing the longevity of my sentences without a “breath” and reducing the number of comma splices in my sentences. I am proud of how far along my writing has come, there is still a long way to go but I believe that I am making good steps so far from where I came.

I never would have improved as much as I have without the help of the editing skills checklist and the of my current teacher. I would have still gone down the path that I was used to which was taking the easy way out. I can only up from here and without the bad I would not have known the positives about my writing. Hopefully, over the next few weeks, I can improve even more and take my writing to a level that I have yet to achieve.
