There are many different ways to make sure your computer is safe, as well as many preventative measures you can take to ensure it stays that way. The first way you can easily see if your computer is safe is by analyzing its performance. Ask yourself questions such as “Is it running smoothly?”. When your computer is compromised and has software that should not be there installed your computer tends to see a lack in performance. Another way you can check to see if your computer is safe is to run a virus scan. This will take longer than simply seeing if you are lacking performance but it is more reliable and gives a lot more information. If you scan your computer with an anit-virus it scans all the files on your computer so it may take awhile however the results are worth it. If it detects harmful software installed on your computer it will alert you to its presence and if it is in fact harmful and shouldnt be there it can be removed with the click on a button. Having an antivirus is also the first preventative measure as well. If you have an antivirus installed and you go to a harmful website or accidentally click on something that might download harmful software onto your device the antivirus will detect it and catch it before it happens by alerting you and asking if you meant to download this and giving the possible harmful effects it can have. The second preventive measure to keeping your computer safe is to simply avoid clicking ads. Ads can be put on the internet by anyone and they are essentially just a link with a picture overtop of it. Clicking on harmful ads can automatically start a download you might not see and could infect your device with malware. These are the main ways to check if your computer is safe and ensure its continued safety.
