- How can you tell if your computer is safe?
Well, this answer can vary from a list of reasons such as an Up to date software operating system, antivirus and antimalware software, strong passwords and multistep authentications, safe browsing habits, firewall protection, encryption, data backup, secure WIFI connection, regular scans and maintenance, and avoiding public WIFI for sensitive activities.
2. Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.
Computers and technology has definitely changed over time for the worse and better, making the world safer and less safe. How? Why? Well, technology now a days is certainly more widespread and advanced. But, it is also way more accessibly, hence leading to so many children grasping and learning many inappropriate behaviors. The change and its impact of technology is very evident, bullying has gone up, sexual content has gone up, scammers has gone up, hackers/stalkers has gone up. A simple google search can back that up. Playing a pivotal role in today’s current day is the electric grid itself. It is a critical infrastructure vulnerable to cyber threats. Threats upon this can derive from various forms such as individual hackers, nations, states, or even criminal organizations. Now, what does hacking have to do with this? As I mentioned earlier concerning the electric grid itself, hacking actually has its own form against this “electric grid”. Hacking involves tries/attempts to disrupt and infiltrate the grid’s own operations. Usually, not all the time, hackers target the control systems or/and communication network for the sake of gaining unwanted access to potentially disrupt the flow of the electricity. Which potentially, results in the following: equipment damage, or a power outage or safety risk for the economy. Now, why would I talk about hacking, define hacking, and even mention how hackers move/operate, if I do not even mention how cybersecurity, this very course, defends these cyber threats. Cybersecurity measures within the electric grid sector aim to completely denigrate/remove the very threats through the establishment of robust defenses, quick responses to a potential break in, and looking out for any unusual activity.
