I am 23 years old and recently retired from the United States Air Force, where I proudly served six years as a medic. My time in the military allowed me to gain extensive hands-on clinical experience and a strong foundation in patient care, particularly in high-pressure and fast-paced environments. In addition to my military service, I also worked as an EMT, which further broadened my skills and gave me the opportunity to provide care across diverse communities.

I am currently pursuing my RN–BSN degree to advance my nursing career and strengthen my ability to care for patients holistically. I chose this course because I want to expand my understanding of how external factors such as socioeconomic status, education, and access to healthcare shape patient health and recovery. In both the Air Force and my EMT work, I saw firsthand how social determinants of health often created barriers for patients. Many individuals delayed seeking care due to financial strain, lack of reliable transportation, or limited access to primary healthcare services. These challenges not only worsened their immediate conditions but also had lasting effects on their overall well-being.

Throughout my career, I hope to learn more effective strategies to address these disparities and become better equipped to advocate for patients facing such obstacles. I am looking forward to the opportunity to share experiences, gain new insights, and collaborate with many experienced individuals through my journey.

Who Am I?
