Fraud is one easy traditional crime that has become more difficult. Due to different countries have internet laws, someone from a different country who may not have well developed internet laws may be able to get away with fraud and avoid law enforcement, especially if they’re targeting regions like the US.

The internet is developing as an incredibly fast rate, and the criminal justice is not catching up. For example, in the US it is still illegal to share your password on a streaming service like Netflix. I also think the lack of experts in research and experts in this field play a major role in this, and need a different adaptative approach when it comes criminal justice research.

A course like Cyber and Surveillance Law and Governance can be good to bridge the gap between the two disciplines by combining legal theory and public policy. It requires you to understand how systems work from a STEM point of view, and how they should be regulated from a social science point of view.

I feel like a dual approach to this could be incredibly beneficial. What I mean by this is when it comes to more complex cybercrimes, like organized cybercrime, exploiting, stuff that requires extra training and expertise, should be handled by a cyber unit, but with how common digital evidence is now from back then, all officers should be trained to recognize and handle digital evidence.

Discussion Board: Cybersecurity and Criminal Justice The evolution of crime in the cyber area hinders law enforcement greatly by anonymous sending and global reach.
