Before starting college my dream was to become a sports journalist. Speaking on the sidelines during game breaks, predicting scores for matches, interviewing players, was what I saw myself doing post graduation. Although it is still somewhat of my dream today and as I have slowly been thinking of other options as well as implementing photography, this course definitely showed me the communication in sport communication. Whether it was curating social media posts or creating graphics and connecting with my penpal, I felt like I gained valuable knowledge on what kind of things I could be doing in a communications field. I feel as if this course also allowed me to think about current and past events pertaining to the sport world, and how it can connect to the content we may make. Recalling back the moment where Megan Rapinoe advocated for equal pay for her teammates and all the women after her was inspiring. Being able to fully showcase my photography work when it comes to sport through my WordPress in general also gave me a layout for what I can possibly show an employer. Working through formatting and what to show and not to show really made me think about my own portfolios I have elsewhere. Especially with the game article we had to write, which I haven’t really honed in on since I took a sports journalism course, I saw through feedback and other things that it is something I also can work on. With an online class of course the feedback comes back virtually, but I still appreciated the peer reviews I both gave and received on my assignments. This course overall has made me think about sport communication in its broad aspect in both the writing and social media side. It would be awesome to do some of the things I did for my sport journal for an actual publication or organization in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
