Sports Journal Reflection

on

Over the past three months, taking Sport Communication has been an educational experience. One of the things I enjoyed most was working on our blog posts and learning how to build and manage my own personal website. At first, I struggled to understand how to customize the site and make it look the way I wanted. There were moments when I felt stuck or frustrated. However, over time, I figured things out and gained a lot of confidence. In the end, I was proud of the final product and grateful for the experience of this course, as it gave me a better understanding of using digital tools and personal branding.Throughout the class, the different assignments helped me explore the many sides of sport communication. Each project made me think more critically about how information is shared in the sports world and how various roles contribute to that process. For example, the infographic project, I reached out to Danielle Cohea, who works in our school’s compliance office. Speaking with her gave me an inside look at a side of sports that doesn’t always get as much attention, compliance and administration. What stood out most from our conversation was how much responsibility and detail goes into her work. She explained how compliance ensures that athletes and programs are following rules, and how important communication is in keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. I found the conversation not only informative but also inspiring. It helped me realize that compliance is a field I could actually see myself working in one day. That interaction gave me valuable insight into what to expect in that career path and what I can do now to prepare for it if I were to explore that path. This course has definitely helped me grow. I’ve gained new skills, learned about different careers in sport communication, and started thinking more seriously about my future. I’m thankful for everything I’ve learned and excited to see how I can apply it in real-life situations as I move forward.
