Assignments

Your First Semester

Since this semester I personally believe I have grown a lot as a person. I have learned my way around campus. While learning people’s true colors. I’ve now been through lots of friend groups trying to find the right friends for me. Now that I’ve settled down,I think my friend group is way better and I’ve found my friends.

My expectations of the year were really high while coming in. As a freshman I wanted the full college experience. Moving away from home has been a big struggle for me. It’s also just so nice being able to do my own thing. I was definitely expecting a lot more of college and this year. Now I’m learning that it’s always about what you make it, like it’s not going to be fun unless you make it.

This semester definitely did not fulfill my expectations. I really was expecting a lot more coming from a small town to such a big school. Also, at the same time it just feels like I still see the same 10 people everywhere. I really wanted to be able to make lots of new friends and it’s just not what I was expecting. Although it’s been fun, the ups and downs have definitely been rough.

I wish I knew not to stick my trust into a lot of people. I think when first coming here I was so eager to have such great friends. When in reality I was just treating them good when they were treating me poorly. I wish I would have told myself to continue going to classes everyday and not let any distractions happen. I also wish I knew that classes are very important and needing to get above a C is very important to maintain.

Study Habits

I spend nearly 25 to 30 hours a week studying.  All of the assignments that have been given out this semester for me at least have been very time consuming. Nothing very hard but just takes lots of time to complete. In the beginning I definitely studied a lot more. Versas now I  slowly started getting lazier and not completing every assignment.

My study habits haven’t changed much. I have noted that I love having something in the background while doing my work. I also work better alone, which  is a very unpopular opinion. I used  to work in the library but now that I sit at my desk in my room alone it’s so much better. I also do my work alone while listening to music has improved my study habits a lot.

The resources I used this semester were really just the resources my teachers  gave me. Other than that I have always used Quizlet. I love that I can make my own flashcards. There are also lots of little games that help me study. I also love that you can share it so you and your friends can study together.

Next semester I’m going to focus and lock in more. I really want to do better and I believe I can do better. I’m going to use more of the resources given to me by the professors. I’m also going to use Quizlet more and I want to use the study tips located on Quizlet. Next semester is going to be much better and I can tell this semester changed me to be better for next semester.

Health Professions Learning Community

These courses are clearly very different, but they actually do have a lot in common. Right now as a freshman all gen-ed classes are required. They are all gen-ed classes and are connected by that way. I think that these classes are all linked together through LLC. Which everyone is also in. I also believe that even though they are different subjects they all also have a big powerful and meaningful place as equally as each other.

Parallel Plan

I definitely want to stick with the health majors. I really want to be a nurse but the other major I would choose is Pre-Med. Those are the only two things I’m interested in, as if right now. I Know that it’s just freshman year and I’ll get to explore other options. I just really believe that I’m really into the health side of majors and I really don’t want to change.

The benefit to having a seconds plan goes behind. It helps so many people when things don’t go the way things are planned. Lots of people don’t get into the nursing program because of how competitive it is. I think that it’s always good to have a second plan because life always takes turns and sometimes it’s for the better. Maybe people just need a little push to move their majors and it might be the best decision for you. It’s okay to have ideas of other options that attract you other than just one.

I think both of these majors will definitely benefit me in the end. No matter which one is chosen they both are in the medical field. They both make a good amount of money. They are both in the health care facility that I really wanted. Pre-med is definitely  harder and it’s going to take much more time for school than nursing will. I will be happy either way in the end, I just really wanted to be in the healthcare field.
