Psychiatric disorders like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety are caused by disturbances in the electrical activity or chemical signaling (neurotransmitters) that neurons use to communicate. Psychiatrists who understand how neurons function, how they form network ,and how medications, environment, or heredity can alter their signaling are better equipped to diagnose, treat, and manage mental health conditions.
