An area that I would like to focus my career on would be oversight and governance; more specifically, Secure Project Management and Program Management. Secure project management implements the tools needed to oversee and directly manage technical projects. Some of a of the key aspects that secure project managers would have to implement would be data protection, risk management, access control, training, and awareness, and performing regular audits. Program managers oversee multiple projects that will lead to the overall success of a program. Program managers are responsible for communication and ensuring that the agency priorities are aligned. Some of the key aspects of a program manager are resource management, oversight, communication to stakeholders and risk management. Other areas that would pique my interest include Cyberspace Operations and Database Administration.

Areas that are least interesting to me would be protection and defense, more especially Infrastructure support. Support is responsible for managing and maintaining the Information Technology infrastructure which ensures seamless operations, security, and performance. Support must deal with software, network, and data management and provide technical support. A few reasons it is the least interesting to me is the downtime that would come from issues that affect operations and productivity. Constantly and consistently managing security risks can be a daunting and draining task.
