I met one of the nine criteria for a formal diagnosis of DSM. According to the scale, I do not fall into this category. The items used on the scale varies between behaviors and feelings that deals with social media use. These items include tolerance, withdrawal, persistence, deception, conflict, escape, preoccupation, displacement and problems. The patterns used by social media can be found across the world by including cultural differences, social norms and psychological influences. An example of this would be when the user rate of social media would be high cause it is so integrated into the everyday lives of certain cultures. The opposite of this would be when certain cultures require face-to-face interaction over using social media platforms.
