Cyber Security is a growing field that is changing very rapidly. The changes are due to hackers and scammers finding new ways to penetrate systems, or trick people into scams. The problem is also the same for software and security architects. The main way to stay on top of this issue is by having an understanding of social science.

Social Science

Social science is different than the different sciences. This form of science relates to grouping individuals from different economies and looking at their behaviors. It has different disciplines like psychology which relates to human behavior, Sociology which relates to the science of social groups, and lastly economics which corresponds with the science of firms, markets, and economies. This form of science relates closely with almost all cyber security jobs.

Explain how social sciences relates to Cyber Security

Cyber Security relates with most cyber security jobs, since it studies how humans interact and change. Which can relate to thinking about how hackers or phishing scammers talk to people to get information. Including how they might change to match the situation so the person can maybe relate to them while doing phishing scams or changing their method towards trying to penetrate a system. This can be helpful to try and guess hackers next move or what they would do in a situation to try and patch the system.

Security architect job

A security architect designs and keeps websites or security for an organization up to date. Their supposed to highlight different vulnerabilities and their responsible for designing a a solution to such vulnerabilities. Usually working alongside other IT professionals like network engineers and software developers. A few duties or responsibilities that they do is risk assessment which identify different vulnerabilities in the software’s. Including reviewing and approving third party solutions Like different solutions or technologies to be introduced into the organizations. They do this to make sure the solutions or technologies meet the organizations meet the security requirements. This is an important job for big organizations who are trying to keep technology up to date.

How Security Architects relates to social science

This job can relate directly to social sciences since the job is about designing software and keeping it up to date against different attacks. The architect keeps the software up to date by patching different holes in the system or any possibilities. I believe it would be helpful to know your crowd, as in have a good idea of what hackers might try to do while penetrating the system.

Conclusion

In conclusion social science research is important for most cyber security jobs. Having a good understanding of the attackers can be beneficial when creating a solid system. Most won’t call it social science though since its almost common sense that designers automatically think about when creating systems. Any job I go into ill make sure to also have a good understanding of social sciences.
