Exploring Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I don’t think that there’s any better product in the world to learn about other cultures than the internet. With the whole of human knowledge and understanding on it, the internet is a tool that can both objectively talk about and display cultures as well as be a thing that is shaped by cultures itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Engaging in Communities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Engaging with other communities is extremely valuable for broadening your own worldview and exposing you to new ideas. Allowing you to learn more about the world around you, and be more understanding of your fellow man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Interpretive Listening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During the semester I had three personal one-on-one talks\/interviews with my professor, as well as many more shorter Spanish conversations with my classmates. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Interpretive Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n During the semester I did a lot of interpretive communication activities. Many of them were assignments with mock conversations between two Spanish speakers, where I had to read each side and then answer questions related to the content they spoke about. The biggest difficulty with such assignments was that certain words had different meanings based on context, usually “que.” Overcoming challenges like these usually required trying to just brute force figure out the translation via other context, and ignoring the strange word usages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Exploring Culture I don’t think that there’s any better product in the world to learn about other cultures than the internet.
