My family and I decided to donate money to them. When things happen to people, I always try to put myself in their shoes. I felt that the “Self Across Situations” was most definitely me because I am loving, kind, sincere, and a highly ambitious person.

Assignment 4

From this assignment, I learned that racial slurs can exist without a person being genuinely racist. Like in assignment 3, I believe that Micheal loves all people and that he is not in the category of a person who is racist. But, being by that he is a comedian I feel that he only wanted to make people laugh instead of hurting anyone’s feelings. However, some of the people in his audience didn’t feel that way.

This assignment is personally relevant to me because of how we judge each other by the texture of our skin. To me, it is no difference between black and white. We all are human in the eyesight of “God”. For example, when blood comes from all of our bodies the color of it is “Red”. So, therefore, no one should be prejudiced towards anyone.

Assignment Takeaway 3

From this assignment, I learned the true meaning of me. They lost all their belongings. My family and I decided to donate money to them. When things happen to people, I always try to put myself in their shoes. I always serve as a listening ear to my students, especially those who find themselves in trouble. One of my students recently got into trouble. She needed a listening ear. I let her say everything she needed to say. When she was done, I gave her encouraging words. Again, I am known for always being the teacher who listens to my children. So being a listening ear for her was very consistent with my character.

The secret to success is sincerity. One of my closest friends had car problems. I drove her home every day from work until her car was fixed. I didn’t ask for any money or any type of compensation. I did it from my heart. This is very consistent with my willingness to help people.

I believe that honesty is the best policy. A person lost their money in Walmart. I found it and returned it to customer service. In my opinion, I feel that I was consistent because I know how it feels to lose money. When I lose money, I get in a frenzy. So, to calm someone’s mind by returning their hard-earned cash truly made my day.

A great writer once said, “Just be yourself, hold true to yourself, your dreams and ambitions.” I am 59 yrs. old and have always had a desire to go back to school to earn my bachelor’s degree. So, here I am at Old Dominion University working on my degree. I am doing well in my classes. No one can stop me now! In my opinion, I am highly consistent. The word that I learned from this course was schemas. The word schemas– from chapter 2– defines this word as “a mental framework that processes information relevant to particular contexts”.

The word schema is relevant to me in terms of using a school bus. This is how I developed schemas during the pandemic while I worked on the school bus. The mental framework associated with the school bus is that of a vehicle “only” used to transport children to and from school. However, the schema of the school bus transcends the usual interpretation of the function of the school bus. First, instead of the students just riding the bus to school, they also received meals delivered by the bus during the pandemic: delivery. Secondly, in our county, we used several school buses to deliver students their homework packages. Third, we used various school buses to deliver Wi-Fi adaptors to students that didn’t have internet in their homes.

In conclusion, who would have thought that a school bus could be used in so many ways? In the grand “schema” of things, the school bus was used for more than its common use. It was indeed used as a multi-functioning unit of transportation.

Assignment 5 The assignment determination is relative to me because I am a very consistent and considerate person.
