Hi, I’m Tyasia Mcmillian, a current student at ODU majoring in Political Science. I began my undergraduate in 2021 at East Stroudsburg University, where I was pursuing a degree in business management. Throughout this period, I gained knowledge from communication skills to learning consumer behavior. In the fall of 2023, I made the decision to pause my academics to serve as an active-duty sailor in the United States Navy. This engagement reinforced my diligence, endurance, and authority. With these qualities, I strive to lead them into my ongoing academic career. I resumed my education in Fall of 2025, changing my major to Political Science as I realized that was my true passion.  I aim to achieve a career in law with this degree. Being back in college after a two-year break reminded me of how much dedication it takes. But with this, I am more motivated than before to complete my studies. Not only are my studies and career important to me but I believe in living in the moment as well. It is so easy to forget about the present when getting to the future is the goal. I enjoy relaxing and going on walks or to the beach to remember the present is just as important as the future. I look forward to this journey of self-development and learning.
