My experiences outside the classroom have played a significant role in my personal and professional growth. Throughout my time at Old Dominion University, I have sought opportunities to develop my leadership skills, gain real-world experience, and become more involved in the cybersecurity community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of my most impactful experiences has been serving as the Secretary of Pi Kappa Phi<\/strong>. In this leadership role, I managed meeting records, communicated important information to members, and helped organize chapter activities. This position strengthened my organizational, leadership, and communication skills while teaching me the importance of teamwork and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I also gained valuable professional experience as a Program Assistant at the ODU Innovation Lab<\/strong>, where I supported daily operations, assisted students and faculty, and helped facilitate STEM-related events. This role improved my problem-solving abilities and gave me experience working in a collaborative, technology-focused environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Most recently, I joined Cyber News Live<\/strong> as a Cybersecurity & Media Intern<\/strong>. Through this internship, I research emerging cyber threats, analyze ransomware attacks and data breaches, create cybersecurity content, and contribute to public awareness through digital media. This experience has allowed me to apply concepts learned in the classroom to real-world cybersecurity issues while developing skills in cyber threat intelligence (CTI), open-source intelligence (OSINT), and technical communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to these experiences, I have been an active member of the ODU Cybersecurity Student Association<\/strong>, where I have connected with fellow students, learned about current industry trends, and expanded my professional network. I have also participated in ODU intramural sports and volunteer activities, which have reinforced the importance of teamwork, leadership, and community involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These experiences have prepared me for a career in cybersecurity by strengthening both my technical knowledge and professional skills. They have shown me the value of leadership, collaboration, continuous learning, and giving back to the community.
