The frameworks exist to reduce an organization’s exposure to weaknesses and vulnerabilities that hackers and other cyber criminals may exploit. The 5 core activities of NIST’s Cybersecurity framework are Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, Recover. Identify is what processes and assets need protection. Protect means implement appropriate safeguard to ensure protection of the enterprise’s assets. Detect means implement appropriate mechanisms to identify the occurrence of cybersecurity incidents. Respond means develop techniques to contain the impacts of cybersecurity events. Recover means implement the appropriate processes to restore capabilities and services impaired due to cybersecurity events. The purpose of a framework is to assist in development, providing standard, low-level functionality so that developers can focus efforts on the elements that make the project unique. The use of high-quality, pre-vetted functionality increases software reliability, speeds up programming time, and simplifies testing. In software engineering, frameworks are tools that help professionals build apps, websites and digital systems. Since they function as blueprints for these different projects, frameworks can help programmers, developers and coders conduct tasks more effectively. In a business environment, frameworks offer similar benefits in inclusiveness and scalability, but their primary purpose is to power decisive breakthroughs with innovative thinking and clear communication. The NIST cybersecurity framework is a powerful tool to organize and improve your cybersecurity program. It is a set of guidelines and best practices to help organizations build and improve their cybersecurity posture. As a whole these 5 functions deal with any cybersecurity risks by organizing information, enabling risk management decisions, attacking the threat, and improving the system by learning any past cybersecurity events. However, these 5 functions have their own specific duties to achieve success. The first of the five, identify, means to develop an understanding to deal with the cybersecurity risk. Second of the five is protect, which is implementing any necessary safeguards for the delivery of the critical services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Cyber security frameworks are sets of documents describing guidelines, standards, and best practices designed for cyber security risk management.
