What do students learn from research projects? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are many benefits to conducting a research project\nor a research essay. I believe instructors assign research projects in order to\nhelp the students strengthen their knowledge on research skills. Students can\nlearn a lot from research projects because they require the student to look\nsomething up and quote people, and citations are also a big topic in the\nresearch world. Some things students learn from research projects are how to\nform in-text citations, it could also give the students an area of interest if\nthey would rather conduct research for a living or not, and another benefit\ncould be the experience attained from it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In-text citations help students because they cannot only\nagree with a certain topic, but they can also have their own stance on it and\nstrengthen it with outside source materials. An in-text citation is a reference\nthat includes the author\u2019s name and the page number of where the material was\ngathered from. In-text citations are usually found after a sentence that is\nslightly reworded by the writer of the article or paper in order to keep the\nintegrity of the writer. Without in-text citations, a lot of people would have\nbeen shunned for plagiarizing. Plagiarizing is when someone uses another\nperson\u2019s work and does not give credit to that person or put where they got\nthat information from. Also, the honor code system is set up in a way where\nsomebody can be an amazing writer and cite everything, but if they literally\nmiss one in-text citation, they could potentially get kicked out of school.\nSome of the punishments are just too harsh and need to be reviewed if the case\nof plagiarism was simply forgetting one citation or one writer\u2019s name. This is\na good thing because it gives the students experience and helps them to learn\nto always double check their work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another good thing about research is the fact that it could\nhelp the students determine what they want to do for the rest of their lives.\nSome people have jobs that only require them to conduct research on certain\ntopics, such as the medical field. Many people in the medical field are\nrequired to know how to perform research so if a patient has a weird disease\nthat our country has never seen before, maybe another country has and able to\ntreat that disease and got their treatment of that disease published online.\nResearch could also help to strengthen one\u2019s abilities to understand if\nsomeone\u2019s research is trustworthy or not. Some people just cannot stand doing\nresearch which is fine, but others love doing research because it helps them\nattain more knowledge and knowledge is one of the most powerful things on the\nplanet. Another benefit could be the experience attained from conducting\nresearch. Experience is literally how somebody can be qualified for certain\njobs. So, somebody who is more experienced in conducting research could be a\ngreat asset for a company or firm that needs more people to conduct research on\nhow to save money for instance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To conclude, students have the power to learn a lot from\nthe research they conduct. Research helps students to learn new things about\nwriting, helps students to figure out what they want to do in the future, and\nhelps students gain experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
