It wasn’t until I took my midterms for UNIV that I fully understood what I’m capable of. Enough though I know there is still room for me to grow, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that I haven’t improved. My Progress in the past six weeks has got me a passing score on my midterms, showed how much I’ve grown, and laid the foundation of what I need to do to be successful in the weeks to come.

When it came to taking my midterm for UNIV 150, I was quite nervous. Mainly because the midterm was graded the same way as the WSPT, Writing Sample Placement Test. Even though I was nervous about this midterm, I knew that my writing skills have improved immensely since the last time I took it. Remembering from my past mistakes, of wasting time when I first took the WSPT, I started writing as soon as the timer started counting down. At the same time, I was also mapping out my whole essay, deciding which topic would be talked about in each section and how I would come to a close. After one hour and twenty minutes of continuous writing, I was content with my work. A few weeks later I got my grade back, and to my amusement, I scored a passing grade of three.

Reaching this score on my midterms showed how much I’ve grown in this short amount of time. This was to be expected since I constantly took part in the assignments in class. Also, I would study those same worksheets after the class was over to make sure I understood the topic. On top of that if I had any spare time in class I would try and squeeze in a practice or two that I found online. Doing this will also help me achieve writing success for weeks to come.

As I get ready for my finals, I will continue to participate in all class assignments as well as study after the class has ended. I know that if I keep going about my studies the way I do now, writing a professional essay will come naturally to me. That being said, it won’t hurt to get extra help. For example, I’ll continue to have other students or friends review my papers once or twice before I turn them in. It doesn’t matter how good of a writer you are, it’s always beneficial to have someone else check your paper. In addition, I’ll need to improve the rate it takes me to finish writing essays. This is a problem because it often takes me more than two hours to complete my papers, and with the finals being timed, that wouldn’t be enough time for me to finish writing and revising the essay.

I truly feel that my writing skills have improved. I also feel that my midterm, study habits, and future plans prove so. Being able to work hard and reach good grades is something I’m grateful for. In addition, I know there is still room for me to improve, but if I keep going about my school work the way I do with my essays, there’s a hundred percent chance that my future will be bright.

Through weeks six through twelve, I’ve gained a significant understanding of my writing capabilities.
