I Love Haters: How I Dealt with Haters
Altucher is right that hate is contagious, the 24-hour rule helps dealing with haters, and time heals all wounds.
When Altcuher says hate is contagious he is not wrong. Altcuher said that “anger is an emotional stab at your emotional body.” This means that being angry can really take a great deal of energy from you. Throughout middle school and high school I have been hateful towards someone because they were hating on me. While I was in middle there was this girl named Toni who hated me because her boyfriend was flirting with me. I did not know he even had a girlfriend because he never talked about her, so I did not understand why she was hated me. She kept talking about how much she hated me and spreading rumors that I eventually started hating her too. Eventually a mutual friend of ours brought us together to talk about our differences. Working thing out with Toni did do some good, we became best friends by the end of our middle school year. Besides the middle school drama, when I got to high school I had a girl who hated me for no reason. Because she did not like me, I did not like her back. It felt like middle school again so I went up to her and tried to talk to her about our disagreements. This time that did not work out as well as it did with Toni and she continued to hate me the rest of the year. Altucher also said “Some religions say you should show compassion to your enemies.” I have learned that no matter where you are whether it is school or work people are going to always hate you and just because someone hates does not mean you have to hate them back too.
