Protecting Availability

If I were the CISO of a publicly traded company, I would focus mainly on making sure our systems stay up and running at all times. One of the first things I would put in place is strong backup systems so that if there is a natural disaster, cyberattack, or system failure, our data can be restored quickly and easily.

I would also use redundant servers, which means if one server goes down, another one can take over right away so the company does not experience major downtime. Having 24/7 monitoring would also be important so we can catch problems early before they turn into something serious. I would make sure systems are regularly updated and patched to fix security weaknesses that could cause outages.

In addition, I would create a cybersecurity department that is responsible for protecting systems, responding to incidents, and keeping everything secure. Lastly, I would have a disaster recovery and business continuity plan in place so that if there is an outage, our software and services do not completely shut down and can recover quickly.

Ultimately, all of these steps would help keep the company running smoothly and ensure availability of our systems.
