Reflection number two

During the last three to four weeks of my internship at CyberRisk Beyond Solutions Inc., I gained practical experience in cybersecurity, focusing on security awareness, vulnerability management, and third-party risk assessment.

In developing a monthly security awareness program, I researched social engineering tactics, such as phishing and baiting, and created training materials to educate employees. This project highlighted how attackers exploit human behavior and underscored the importance of clear communication in cybersecurity.

For vulnerability management, I analyzed Nessus scan reports, categorized vulnerabilities, and documented them in a risk register. This hands-on experience familiarized me with the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) and demonstrated the need for proactive scanning to maintain system security.

In third-party risk assessment, I performed data quality checks and generated Power BI reports on vendor risks. This introduced me to the complexities of third-party risk management and allowed me to develop skills in data visualization and presenting insights to support decision-making.

Overall, my internship at CyberRisk Beyond Solutions Inc. so far has been transformative. I honed technical skills in vulnerability assessment and data visualization and gained valuable insights into cybersecurity strategy. With guidance from my supervisor, coworkers and mentors, I grew professionally and further committed to a cybersecurity career focused on protecting organizations from evolving threats.
