VIVIAN OWUSU-NYANNOR
REFLECTION # 3
During my final weeks of internship at CyberRisk Beyond Solutions Inc I gained hands-on
experience in cybersecurity and risk management under the supervision and mentorship of Mr.
Theophilus Offei. My focus areas included conducting risk assessments, supporting vulnerability
management, assisting with compliance with industry standards, and contributing to security
awareness initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk Assessments: I helped identify and evaluate cybersecurity risks for clients, preparing
detailed reports outlining vulnerabilities and recommended mitigation strategies.
Vulnerability Management: Managed vulnerability scans and prioritized remediation efforts,
ensuring clients’ systems were protected from potential threats.
Compliance Support: I supported the team in ensuring clients met regulatory standards such as
NIST, GDPR, and ISO/IEC 27001.
Security Awareness Training: Contributed to designing phishing simulations and training
materials to educate employees on cybersecurity best practices.
Skills Gained:
Proficiency in using cybersecurity tools like Nessus and OpenVAS for vulnerability scanning.

Understanding risk management practices and compliance frameworks such as NIST and
ISO/IEC 27001 is essential.
Strong communication skills through report writing and client presentations.
Collaboration and problem-solving skills gained through team-based projects.
Though my internship was great and I gained a lot of experience I was unfamiliar with
vulnerability scanning tools and the complexity of compliance regulations. With guidance from
Mr. Offei, I quickly overcame these challenges by dedicating extra time to learning and seeking
clarification from the team.
Conclusion: This internship gave me valuable experience and knowledge in cybersecurity,
particularly in risk management, vulnerability assessments, and compliance. I am grateful to
Mr. Offei and the CyberRisk Beyond Solutions Inc. team for their mentorship and support, and I
look forward to applying these skills in my future career.
