- Personally I think I have grown so much from the beginning of the semester until now. At the beginning I definitely took how hard college was going to be for granted but I soon came to realize that I was really going to have to grind and put my head in the books if I am going to get where I want and with the degree I want. My expectations for this semester were very high. I knew school was going to be fun but I definitely thought it was going to be easier than it is. I for sure took the freedom of being on my own and not having really much to do other than sleep to my advantage a little too much, but I have had some great experiences so far and made some great friends along the way. Something I wish I knew 14 weeks ago was its okay to take a deep breath. I stressed myself out a lot this semester and let it get really bad at one point. I wish I had taken a few minutes for myself or to talk to someone about what was going on. I let myself get very stressed over my grades which I have always had a problem with but it got very bad because I worry about not being accepted to the nursing program, but I have come to learn that whatever happens on my journey there is meant to happy and sometimes change is meant to happen and to let the journey flow.
- My study habits have gotten much better. In high school I never really studied at all just because I felt I never needed to but college is very different. I definitely have had to study much more and stay on top of the material that is put in front of me to learn. Nowadays I spend about 3 hours for each class that I need to study for, whereas at the beginning of the semester I was only taking about only an hour for each class. My study habits have gotten much better and focus way more of my time on studying. A resource I have used this semester that I will use next semester is the writing center. The first time I used them was for an English paper I needed feedback on. It was a great resource and they gave me some great feedback and helped me get a 96 on the paper. I will for sure be using them next semester for other papers and projects. A study habit I will use going into next semester will be, study groups. They have been super helpful to me, studying with other people, learning new ways of thinking about material and getting feedback from my fellow peers.
- The ILC event that was most beneficial to me I think would have to be when Dr. Jamela Martin spoke about over zoon the Social Determinants of health. As a student before that zoom I never really thought about things that affect my health especially not things such as location of my home, my water source ext. Being a college student I think many of us never slow down and think about things like that nor things like what we put in our bodies and how they affect us over time. Dr. Martin really got me thinking about myself and my health and her talk was super beneficial.
