Course description
The IDS 493 course is something that many degrees at Old Domian University (ODU) need to have or are required to have, and it is important to the student’s development inside and outside of the school because the student can have this Eportfolio to show future employers and professors the accomplishments that the student has done throughout their years at ODU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Introduction<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The cybersecurity program at ODU has been an interesting experience for me in short, it has been a great experience that has kept me engaged in the topic of cybersecurity and that has let me progress through the program no matter the challenge. I have met great people that have given me great information about the field and the school’s program. Now for the most valued skill that I have achieved through this program is probably the ability to be confident when speaking to people if I don\u2019t know them. I got this from a public speaking class I took, as well as interaction with people in other classes, like my cyber terrorism class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Program reflection<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My most valuable learning experience that I have gotten from ODU has been the management side of being a student at ODU, in a way, you are on your own when it comes to figuring things out. Now there are ways you can get help, for example, being the advisor or other students. Still, when it comes to showing up, you have to take this into your own hands, it’s different from high school because you have a set schedule. Still, here you have a lot more freedom, I was able to figure out a runtime that I have kept using after my first semester at the school, but during the first semester, I had attendance issues and had to take more responsibility to show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IDS 493 reflection<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This course has been a good way to learn different ways to customize a Eportolio and how to use the different sites that are paired with ODU, mine being WordPress. The most valuable part of this course was figuring out how to use the sites that we used for the course to make the Eportfolio, but one of the concepts that I have found interesting was explaining the different layouts of a portfolio. I think my home screen is laid out pretty well and I am most proud of my resume page. What I found the hardest part of this course was having to figure out the site itself. Things I could improve would probably be the overall theme of the portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Interdisciplinary methods and theories are important to understand course work because they help you understand the work itself. The connections between different courses are that they are all based on the same field or similarly related. As for my next steps after ODU will be hopefully to get a career with either a government or private sector job in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
