Monarch Odyssey is a game project being developed by ODU that is meant to be used by students. The game is designed to get students to go to locations they normally wouldn’t go to otherwise. Here are some of my contributions to the project in the short time I have had with the project.

These are snip bits of code changes made early on in a bugfix for one of the minigames. The issue originally was a freezing/disappearing issue.

Which was fixed by simply changing how the remove function was done, now instead of multiple functions attempting to do the same thing, we now have a void that handles removing the object, which is then called in a different class in 2-3 functions.

Next is the documentation for the project, which is now completely overhauled from previous teams. This was done since there was no central GDD or archive for the game, which meant decisions made in the past were simply unknown. This meant there was no real way to know what the intentions of the project truly were. Now we have an archive and a GDD which will be in the links below.

The last things that were done were small UI changes and adding in minigame zones so that the minigames were accessible from the main scene. The images below is an example of a UI fix and the other is new zones added.

This image shows the the UI now anchored to the top right and in a nice and clean fashion. Different from its original locations which seemed scattered and unanchored, causing them to act incredibly oddly.

Finally we have the minigame zones which allow for every minigame (that is playable) to be accessed from the main scene. These are snip bits of what was worked on in my time working on Monarch Odyssey.
