I chose Module 4 item to archive to be my favorite and most engaging takeaway for the semester. This assignment had us look deep into the effects of social media and the news on our everyday lives. I feel this image best represents this assignment because it shows that it’s hard to tell if whats on the news and on social media is always flowing through our heads. But is it accurate information? I feel in todays day and age social media influences billions of people. It can change beliefs, give different perspectives and can also provide a lot of false information or just information that doesn’t have all the details. This is a big struggle and issue today, especially for my generation as we are social media heavy.

This activity just reminded us once again that not everything the news portrays and social media shows is the full truth. This was very important to hear and learn more in depth about for my age group as we are becoming young adults and are now more than ever going to have our own opinions, lives and freedom. It is important to stay educated but it is more important to make sure the information you are reading ad believing is accurate.

2. Module 8

My photo

This image was in my Module 8 artifact and I am using it to represent my takeaway and understanding of this assignment. In this assignment there was a lost of stereotypes and we had to choose which word goes for which type of ethnicity. This assignment shows that whether we realize it or not stereotypes are still a big part of out society. This picture is a word cloud I made for what I believe Americans can be described as.

I really enjoyed this assignment because like the last artifact, these stereotypes come a lot from social media but they also are stereotypes that have been going on for hundreds of years. It is very eye-opening to see that even though you don’t feel like you engage in stereotypes, you still know them and can view people according to them. I feel this assignment is very relevant in todays society and in everyday social life.

3. Module 6

https://www.iedunote.com/personality-traits

I chose Module 6 as my third favorite item to archive. This assignment was similar to other assignments we had in the class and I feel all of them are very important/ useful. In social psychology, one of the main focuses is people in social settings, how they act, how they think, why they do some things that they do and traits that make people the way they are. In order to be good socially you need to not only be able to understand others but you need to understand yourself as well. I feel this image represents how I feel about this concept and this assignment. People have many different personality traits, some they don’t even notice. These personality traits come out in different situations and at different times.

This assignment had us pick some personality traits we feel we have and monitor them over a span of a couple days. In different situations you see different sides of your personality coming out and I feel it is important and also interesting to see and know these different traits and when they are exposed. Understanding yourself can also help you better understand other people.

4. Module 5

https://availleadership.com/the-self-enhancement-bias/

This assignment focuses on self enhancement and other enhancement tools. I feel this image represents the definition of self enhancement. Self enhancement is when you make yourself look/ feel better. I learned a lot from this assignment that I didn’t really know or pay attention to before. We use self enhancement more than we notice. Some of the different scenarios this assignment gave is what you would do to self enhance if you were meeting in laws for the first time, in interviews or meeting new classmates.

I liked this assignment because i feel it was very beneficial for me considering I would like to go to graduate school and do other things in the future that I could really use these tools in.

5. Module 7

https://www.edbatista.com/2010/04/attitude.html

This assignment, even though I ranked it my 5th favorite, I still feel it was very beneficial and interesting. In this assignment we got to take a look at things we believed in vs the actions we took based on those feelings. This assignment pointed out how a lot of people, including myself, have personal beliefs and feel certain concepts should change however we dont do anything to make those changes or portray our beliefs. One of the examples form the assignment is “if people did the reading before class, they would be more comfortable speaking out.” While I agreed with that statement the next question asked “do you always do the readings before class.” My answer was no. This shows that even though I believe I would do better in class if I did the assignment, I don’t always do it.

This assignment points out a lot of these similar concepts and it makes you realize that your actions are just as important as your beliefs. I feel like if this was brought to more peoples attentions than more people would consider taking actions on their beliefs. This picture accurately represents that these two concepts go hand-in-hand.

Top 5 Artifacts Module 4 This image represents my number one top artifact.
