How does my major relate to cybersecurity technology?

This is an easy question to answer because I am indeed a freshman cybersecurity student at Old Dominion University. My major is the basis of cybersecurity technology. Cybersecurity has been a great interest in my life for the past few years. I have always wanted to find a passion in an area that helps people make sure they are safe. I also had a love for technology my entire life. When you put those two together you can see how cybersecurity came into play. It helps me bring out the side of me that makes people want to be safe while using these modern pieces of technology on the internet. Growing up in an area that requires so many cybersecurity positions was great for me as well. I got a lot of influence from my mother and father for becoming a cyber security student. They both work for the government and military which often carry very sensitive information about the country which could get in the wrong hands if not secured properly. They always talk about how the country is always in need of these professionals to help with mainly the daily cyber attacks on the United States government. I have always wanted a challenge and it seems like this major is suitable for me. The things that I have learned so far feel like a challenging puzzle that you’re trying to solve in order to get an answer with only a few pieces to the answer. Knowing that putting in the hard work to solve that puzzle to help a cause really motivates me to push forward and try to learn as much as I can. I love what I have gotten myself into and I think that my future will greatly benefit with the knowledge that I’m going to learn.
