This course allows students to volunteer to work in an agency related to cybersecurity. Students must volunteer for 50 hours per course credit and complete course assignments. A final paper was assigned to have students to fully describe their growth and experiences that the internship provided.<\/p>\n
During my time at Old Dominion I have learned many skills in the classroom which could be replicated in a professional setting. One class that I took that helped me while working this job would have to be IT315. This course mainly focused on the basics of networking and security on an infrastructure level. In this class we made diagrams of networking systems within buildings and learned the basic setup of systems in order to sustain a load of bandwidth from students using the provided services.<\/p>\n
During my time at this internship I was able to gain more knowledge on how to work within a professional setting. Being able to present ideas and solutions within a team is a very crucial skill to have when working for an enterprise like Old Dominion. Gaining proper people skills when administering customer support for clients was also a great trait to develop. Proper time management skills was also a challenge to obtain but working alongside other professionals really helped my progress whenever deadlines were present.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
