Me achieving these goals shows that I am able to accomplish what I desire to do and will figure out a way to handle the challenges and accommodate according to what is needed to be done.

Associates in Arts in Science – I gained my associates degree from Rappahannock Community College. During that time I transferred credits from Liberty University, moved to Norfolk, took classes at Tidewater Community college, and moved those classes back over to finish that first degree.

Certificate in General Education – Alongside my Associates degree I had enough credits and experiences to obtain my certificate in General Education. I had a specific degree in mind and gain this through maintaining focus and sticking with a dedicated degree.

Certificate in Writing – At my time at Liberty University I was focusing on an early Elementary Education degree. I had to take a handwriting course as that would have been something I was going to teach. Upon completion of this course I gained my certification in handwriting and am able to teach that officially if that were needed.

Finance and Administrative – In my current role I have been able to gain financial experience and hands on training. I am a manager in my current position so I am handling things down from cash transactions to keeping up to date with our audits and making sure that we stay in compliance with state and federal laws, as well as abiding my any protection and privacy acts set in place to protect our consumers.

FICEP (Financial Counseling Education Program) – I am a certified financial counselor. What that looks like for me is I am certified to give formal counseling advice to anyone who I am comfortable with regarding budgeting, reviewing credit reports, and planning next step actions for those interested in improving their financial situations as well as anyone looking to further their financial investments.

Procedural Development – As I work in our branches and with our members day to day, I go through a lot of our process quite often. I am a part of our team who our leadership and development department reach out to to verify processes and to see what is and or should still be applicable. I also assisted in our redevelopment process of our equity loan application processes to create a more smooth application and eliminate critical steps that were being missed when gathering information.

Financial Education and Literacy – As I previously stated, I work with the public on a day to day basis with their everyday needs, as well as future needs. I have to stay up to date with our current offers and promotions. I am a part of our business team outreach and that I partner with our external business partners to campaign in our Norfolk area to educate the public about who we are, what we do, and what we have to offer for local small businesses. I travel though the surrounding area giving hosting classes about basic banking practices, products we offer, and ensure that we are displaying that we are open and welcome to all.

Leadership and Development – These are very important skills to have as you go about your professional career. It is always good to analyze where you are and where you want to go, and how you are going to get there. You should be happy in what you do but if you are wanting more, you need to make the steps to do so and know where to look for that information.

TWP (Total Wine Professional) – In my years in the wine industry, I gained (and drank) lots of knowledge about wine and beer. The company I was working for had a program for our sales and management team to help give you a better understanding of the products, producers, etc. so that you could become more knowledgeable. I passed a series of 7 exams all based off of different wine regions of the world. I had to sample different varieties, grapes, etc. and distinguish the differences between them, even down to the soil type and how it affects the grapes.

Emerging Leaders – A lot of companies have this program in place to boost those who they see potential with. I have been a part of many but am now part of the team that seeks out those we as a company can do better for. We recognize that we do not want to lose our valued team members, so I assist in development of those to help them meet their goals.

Leadership in Education – During my time as an education major, I had to do quite a bit of student teaching and volunteering in local school systems. Although that is targeted to that specific area, it has developed me in my leadership skills to be able to manage a team, a store, and develop others.

Time Management and Determination – This skill shows that you are able to manage a schedule routined or not and be able to accomplish what is expected of you.
