Hello, my name is William Lawson. I am from Orange, Virginia which is a small town close to Charlottesville, Virginia. I graduated from Orange County High School in 2018 with a 4.0 GPA, along with graduating from my local governors school program, BRVGS. While I was in BRVGS, I managed to secure a short internship in the cyber field at a local private business in Charlottesville, Virginia. The time that I spent there not only gave me some hands-on experience, but allowed me to set a few career goals in the back of my mind. One of the goals being that I would eventually like to end up working in a small privately owned cyber business one day. This appeals to me more than being surrounded by hundreds of co-workers and getting lost in the mess. The most simple goal that I set for myself though, was to eventually be able to help people regardless of how I managed to do so.

I am currently in my third-year of college pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Cybersecurity. I transferred from George Mason University to Old Dominion University in the Summer of 2022, however, I wasn’t able to start any courses until the Spring of 2023. I am hoping to be finished with my Bachelor’s by 2025 and to start my journey in the cyber workforce.
