>>>>Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology…?

As the new era of technology spreads by the minute, It is slowly getting harder and harder to protect your personal information. So therefore, I want to learn about cybersecurity to not only protect myself but to help protect my friends and family from cyber threats such as malware, ransomware, or just general bugs and viruses that arrive. It is also an exciting skill set to learn for my current major and future career path in Game Design. For instance, with cybersecurity knowledge, I could encrypt video game assets such as models, environments, and mechanics from reaching the public or a rival business. So my main interest in learning and taking this cybersecurity course is to future-proof myself, my family and friends, and my works and projects from cyber attacks and threats that will present themselves in the foreseeable future. Also, I can potentially save money by learning to protect myself effectively, so I don’t have to pay someone else to do it.

>>> Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity?

Old Dominion University offers a variety of cybersecurity-based majors and certificates to undergraduate and graduate students, ranging from a certificate to professional practice cybersecurity to a Doctorate of Engineering. The four academic paths that stood out to me were a bachelor in Cyber Operations and Cybercrime, a graduate certificate in Cybersecurity Risk Management, and the big kahuna, a Doctorate in Engineering. Firstly, Cyber Operations include the entire context of cyberspace, taking a step back from just security to encompass everything online. Second, Cybercrime goes hand in hand with cybersecurity since students learn to work in law enforcement to prevent cyber crimes and enforce cyber laws. Third, Cybersecurity Risk Management is a certificate cybersecurity graduates can receive that goes over the underlying issues that may present themselves with cybersecurity. Finally, the Doctorate of Engineering in Cybersecurity is essentially the entire experience of cybersecurity ODU can offer. The degree branches into Computer and Electrical Engineering, which both fall under the need for cybersecurity.
