Top Artifact 3
The artifact item that I enjoyed completing the most during the last few modules was from module 11. This one was this archived item was to pick ten people that I know well and to rate whether I think they are happy or unhappy and whether I think they are selfish or unselfish. The results for this artifact were close but a difference could still be told. This assignment made me realize why I and many of the people that I know are so selfless and put others before themselves.
From this assignment, I learned more about the people that I chose, I learned what can change a person’s reason or way of achieving happiness. I learned that many people who are selfish can and usually learn that to be selfish makes it harder to be happy. Thinking about the people that I chose, I thought of how majority of them have children, and although I may have marked them as selfish, it is because of how I knew and understood them before they had kids. However, after further thought, most of them seem unselfish as I know that they would now do and give up anything to see their kids happy. From this assignment, I have learned that many people can be selfish while still being unselfish, some people choose to be selfless with only the people that are important to them but selfish with strangers. I think society has caused for more of that to happen.

I am choosing Artifact 9 as my top artifact two. I liked working on this artifact the most because I find it very interesting how people find their partners. This artifact stood out most to me because I am one of 8 children, and of us 8, 5 of us are married or in a relationship. Majority of my siblings found their significant others through social media or dating sites, I find this very relevant to this artifact because online dating allows you to physically analyze a potential partner before mentally, spiritually, intellectually, or emotionally getting to know them. It is interesting to me how people pick their partners and what aspects may pay part into this decision. I am a believer in fate and this assignment allowed me to see things from a different point of view. I learned about how people really do have a “ideal” partner and looking at my husband, unknowingly, he fits my “type”; although neither of us found each other attractive when we first became friends, and our relationship grew. We did not start dating until 3 years of being friends, it was only after being apart and cutting all communication with each other did we realize we felt more. This assignment taught me that men and women seek age gaps within each other, women prefer older men while some men prefer younger women. Trustworthiness is something that seems to be very important in seeking partners in both genders as well.

I have chosen artifact from module 4 to archive because it is my belief that media and news outlets have taken their bias views to some unreasonable extremes causing our nations people to go into mass panics several times. I enjoyed this artifact the most out of all the ones I have done so far because I feel it closely relates to things that I have personally dealt with, for example, military related situations. From this activity, I have learned why I constantly stay away from news channels and why I am not a fan of news of any kind. Reviewing this artifact, I see a clear picture on why I was so angered when I would hear news about different things during the Iraq Airport bombing but there was limited new on the fallen service members who gave their lives. There were many things that have happened in the military that does not get much light shed on it and it is my belief that news outlets could use their sources for better than what they are currently using them for.
This assignment expands my understanding for this topic because it shows me that it is not just recent events that have been overemphasized but that this has been an occurring thing since television, radio, and news has been established. This artifact allowed me to understand how civilian people and military people may see things differently, how civilians and military personnel find interest in different topics. News outlets do not report on things that do not interest the civilian while those exact things may be what interest military. An example of this would be when a Marine Corps officer was asking for accountability of the events that happened in the Iraqi Airport bombing, there was not much news about this in the public. However, majority of military knows of this officer and what has happened to him. The visual that I have chosen to use is a photo of that Marine Corps officer, he is the one and only person who was stepping up and asking questions about the bombing and the death of our service members, yet the nation chose to kick him out of the military for doing what everyone else was too afraid to do, and that is ask the question of “why did those men and women die? Who? Why? And How did this happen?”

The man, the myth, the legend. Many civilians would not understand who this man is but in the military, especially the Marines, he is a legend.
