This year we will host a one-day virtual conference on April 16, 2021 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with the theme “<s>Surviving </s>Thriving in the New Normal.” The idea is to reflect on what we’ve learned and experienced over the past year and consider together how to make our classes more effective, innovative, equitable, accessible, and manageable as we move forward.

The conference will be free for all and participants are encouraged to drop in and out throughout the day. We do ask though that all participants and presenters register. This will allow us to send the Zoom link to you directly, which decreases our chances of getting Zoom-bombed.

We will host brilliant teacher-scholars throughout the day who will provide informative and empowering sessions with practical takeaways as well as multiple Teacher-to-Teacher (T2T) roundtable sessions in which a few presenters speak for about ten minutes each about a specific strategy, tool, innovation, policy, or approach allowing for ample time for discussion and questions from colleagues. We have chosen this format as opposed to traditional conference presentations in recognition of the increased professional, caring, and emotional labors of the past year. Our hope is that this format will allow more of our colleagues, especially those most impacted by the events of the past year, to participate. Is there something you have learned about yourself, your students, teaching, or technology that you would like to share? Are there policies or practices that you plan to continue post-pandemic? If so, we would love for you to consider presenting in one of these T2T roundtable sessions. You can propose an individual T2T or propose a full T2T roundtable with a shared topic. If you have an out-of-the-box idea, don’t hesitate to reach out; we like those too. Submit your great ideas here. We will be accepting proposals on a rolling basis until April 1.

The 42nd Annual Spring Conference on the Teaching of Writing Surviving Thriving in the New Normal 2021 Conference Speakers 2021 Agenda The annual Spring Conference on the Teaching of Writing brings together secondary and two-year and four-year post-secondary teachers from … Continue reading →
