Everything Is becoming too smart. I have heard of coffee cups that have Wi-Fi that can tell you how hot your drink is. Other coffee cups can keep your drink at the perfect temperature. A fridge can have a screen with a camera inside to show you what\u2019s in the fridge without opening it. I do not understand why that is a thing. The point is technology can be used for amazing (and very stupid) ways. People who go all out in smart home stuff and have everything connected should stop and ask should everything be smart? Is there a point where it is too much? I would say that some things have gone too far. People say that they want privacy but are giving more and more up without thinking about it. Most of these smart home devices talk to the cloud. Again and again reports are coming out that private information is being sold or leaked out of the cloud. People who go \u201cI have nothing to hid that\u2019s fine\u201d have no idea how bad it really is. Someone knowing what shows you watch may not seem like a big deal. It may not but it can be used to make a profile on you. A lot of little things that do not mean much on their own can add up. What you like, your routine, and anything else about you could get out. It can be used for targeted attacks like phishing emails and identify theft. If you know enough about someone you can trick others into thinking you are that someone. That\u2019s why I think that having too many smart devices around is a bad idea. There should be laws about how much data can be collected and that should be enforced. Fines are mostly useless. A 10-million-dollar fine is just a business expense to a big company. Smart home devices need to have stricter rules about what they can and can\u2019t do for everyone\u2019s safety. Most importantly the rules and laws need to be enforced in a meaningful way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
