More than that it has been a direct or indirect part of my career since the late 90s. The major consists of numerous connective areas of thought surrounding the protections needed for a variety of information technologies. In addition, it illustrates the complex ways that adversaries look to exploit weaknesses in these systems. It teaches that these weaknesses can be more than just technological misconfigurations, but could also be failures in policy, training or any number of areas. Because the cyber terrain presents such a broad scope, the cybersecurity major seeks to promote critical thinking in previously disparate business and educational functions to present a holistic baseline for individuals seeking entry into the industry and a refresher for those who\u2019ve already had experiences and needing educational validation of their skills. It provides a means to connect criminal investigation and how to support building cases of that type. The psychoanalytical basics needed to form a rudimentary understanding of human motivations. The tools used by the basic script kitty on to a heavily funded Advanced Persistent Threat (APT). The business approach to understanding these and other risks and evaluating them against the appetite of the company. Calculating the cost of doing business with the cost of protecting the technology used to support the organization. The major also supported an extremely under supported industry skill. As every area of every industry uses some type of technology; from environmental to aeronautics, scientific to engineering, space to humanitarian, the cybersecurity major seeks to give participants a diverse grounding. In doing such it seeks to create students with the flexible mindset to adapt to the innumerable range of activities that security needs to be applied too.
