As the CISO, I would implement redundant systems, regular software and maintenance updates, and firewalls. Installing redundant systems decreases the probability of interruptions such as cyberattacks and failures in the hardware. Regular check-ups and updates prevent certain things not to be outdated which could mess things up in the systems if they can’t catch up to speed.\u00a0 Firewalls shield the systems from unverified traffic and restrict access to those that do not belong. Disaster Recovery and Backups increase the availability so that when things DO go down it isn’t for very long. Implementing monitoring and alert systems that run 24\/7 and notify workers of slight rundowns and mishaps is a good add-on before having to rely on backups and investing in DDOS Protection services to assist. This prevents the systems from flooding from unauthorized users, overall filtering traffic and even using Cloud services like Cloudflare. Some other features that I would add that will help are tabletop exercises, load balancing, and documentation. Regular exercises and practice in this field are crucial to ensure your skills don’t get rusty. It helps with coordination and efficiency. Load balancing helps transfer traffic to healthier servers when things get too overloaded. Lastly having documents for employees and support teams that have the run-down and procedures to act accordingly is always a good idea.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Availability is crucial to keep things running consistently, especially in a company.
