SPAN 202

Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication

Proyecto-1-

Instructions

Exploring Culture

This assignment helped me gain an understanding of both Hispanic and American clothing culture in new ways. I got to learn not just the words, but how people interact and feel about them. I also got to learn about how stereotypes can affect both cultures and how we need to take care to not let these stereotypes get out of control.

Engaging in Communities

This assignment helped me understand more about Hispanic cultures and how they see the world and how the world sees them. This kind of assignment leads to a better understanding of the world at large. It really helps with engaging with everyone involved.

Interpersonal Communication

TalkAbroad was great for multiple reasons. It not only gave me the chance to learn about how other people view their own culture, but also hear a native speaker speak their language. Hearing how they spoke made me want to get better at learning and how to pronounce my Spanish better so that I could better communicate with them. Doing this also helped me learn about Columbia and how their culture is and how they would stereotype and see themselves while also getting a new perspective.

Presentational Speaking

All of the videos that we did for our projects were very presentational. They were all challenging and were a full demonstration of our speaking abilities. They allowed me to be able to express myself on whatever the project was about.

Presentational Writing

The wring portions for the projects is are a good example because it showed off not only our knowledge of the vocab, but also of the unit itself. This first project laid the groundwork for how the other projects would be and how we would have to show off what we learned in class and our growth as Spanish speakers.

Interpretive Listening

The various stories and activities in LingroHub really helped develop my listening skills. Having to listen to how the prompt was talking and then trying to figure out the best answer from there was great in training how to really list to how Spanish sounds.

Interpretive Reading

The biggest way I developed my interpretative reading was through the LingroHub stories. The story of Francisco Jiménez is an amazing example of this because his story about going to college and all the new responsibilities and decisions that come with that new change in your life. I really resonated with me because I am going through that journey as well.
