The next thing that brought the division at ODU to my attention was when I was going out to a party I passed by this white party that sounded like a black party. There were cops outside waiting and ready to shut the party down. I was standing right in front of the house for a long time waiting for my friends and observing what the officers were going to do. I watched them sit in there cars and drive away. right around that time is when my friends showed up and we walked further down the street to go the party we intended on going to. right as we got there the cops showed up and shut the party down. that’s when I started to understand what people meant by only the black parties get shut down.
